No predictions. No recommendations. Pure positioning data with historical context.</p><h2>The Snapshot</h2><p>
<strong>MOST CROWDED SHORT THIS WEEK</strong>

<strong>EURJPY</strong>: SSI -5.4058 (15.6% long)

Z-48h: -0.77

3rd percentile &#8212; more short than 97% of all readings since 2002</p><p>
<strong>MOST CROWDED LONG THIS WEEK</strong>

<strong>GBPCHF</strong>: SSI 13.6254 (93.2% long)

Z-48h: -0.89

22nd percentile &#8212; more long than 22% of all readings since 2002</p><p>
<strong>BIGGEST POSITIONING SHIFT (7 DAYS)</strong>

<strong>GBPCHF</strong>: SSI 13.6254 (93.2% long)

Shifted -5.44 in 7 days

22nd percentile</p><h2>Notable Pairs</h2><p>EURJPY sits at the 3rd percentile with only 15.6% of retail traders positioned long. This is one of the most extreme short readings in the pair since 2002. The crowd has been net short for an extended period, and the current SSI of -5.41 reflects conviction that is rare by historical standards. US CPI on Monday is the immediate catalyst for yen crosses.</p><p>GBPJPY is similarly stretched at the 4th percentile (22.7% long, SSI -3.41). The persistent selling in GBP/JPY has driven z-scores negative across all timeframes, with z-4h at -2.76, the most extreme 4-hour reading across all 28 pairs. UK CPI on Tuesday and Retail Sales on Friday provide the catalysts for sterling this week.</p><p>AUDJPY registers at the 7th percentile (20.3% long). Across the yen complex, the crowd is uniformly short: CADJPY at the 20th percentile, NZDJPY at the 5th. This broad-based yen-long positioning stands out as the dominant theme.</p><p>NZDCAD produced the most dramatic z-score spike this week: z-48h of +3.65, a sharp intraday reversal toward long. The pair sits at the 38th percentile, so the move is not extreme in absolute terms despite the velocity of the shift.</p><p>EURUSD stands at its 8th percentile with only 29.5% long. This is among the most one-sided short readings in the pair since 2002, reflecting entrenched bearish retail sentiment heading into a week dominated by inflation data.</p><h2>Thin-Market Note</h2><p>Several CHF crosses carry thin-market flags this week. CADCHF (96% long), CHFJPY (2% long), USDCHF (95% long), NZDCHF (96% long) all show SSI ratios exceeding 15:1, indicating single-digit participation on the short side. These readings confirm the directional bias (crowd is long CHF) but the magnitude of the ratios reflects low participation rather than conviction. Synthetic SSI derived from major-pair positioning is used for these crosses in the table above.</p><h2>Full Positioning Table &#8212; All 28 Pairs</h2><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:false,&quot;imageSize&quot;:&quot;normal&quot;,&quot;height&quot;:null,&quot;width&quot;:null,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:null,&quot;bytes&quot;:null,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:null,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:null,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!LAgb!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F8d37b037-c0b1-41a1-81c2-8f24d879ca4c_1628x2188.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><p>&#8224; Thin-market pair: SSI ratio exceeds 15:1, likely reflecting single-digit participation on one side. <strong>&#128308; MOST CROWDED SHORT THIS WEEK</strong>

<strong>&#128994; MOST CROWDED LONG THIS WEEK</strong>

Pair: <strong>GBPJPY</strong>

SSI: 1.003 | Percentile: 94th | Z: 4.344

LONG for 1h | At z-extreme for 2h</p><p>
<strong>&#128202; BIGGEST POSITIONING SHIFT (7 DAYS)</strong>

Pair: <strong>USDCHF</strong>

SSI: 10.8889 | Percentile: 7th | Z: -1.244

LONG for 778h</p><h2>Pair in Focus: GBPJPY</h2><p>GBPJPY just flipped net long for the first time in what appears to have been an extended short stretch &#8212; the crowd has held this new direction for just 1 hour. But the magnitude of the move is what stands out: a z-score of 4.344 puts this reading nearly three standard deviations beyond the extreme threshold (1.5), and the 94.5th percentile means GBPJPY hasn&#8217;t seen retail this crowded long since the top ~5% of all readings in our dataset going back to March 2014. This isn&#8217;t a gradual drift &#8212; it&#8217;s a sharp, sudden reversal in positioning. Worth watching whether the crowd holds conviction here or snaps back, especially with Non-Farm Payrolls on Friday. </p><h2>Full Positioning Table -- All 28 Pairs</h2><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:false,&quot;imageSize&quot;:&quot;normal&quot;,&quot;height&quot;:null,&quot;width&quot;:null,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:null,&quot;bytes&quot;:null,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:null,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:null,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!RXte!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F4ede87f3-b91c-47eb-9101-d5e0a4d05be7_1200x1171.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><p>* Thin-market pair: SSI ratio exceeds 15:1, likely reflecting single-digit participation on one side. <strong>MOST CROWDED SHORT THIS WEEK</strong>

<strong>BIGGEST POSITIONING SHIFT (7 DAYS)</strong>

Pair: <strong>AUDCHF</strong>

SSI: 12.4 | Percentile: 87th | Z: 1.321

LONG for 85h</p><h2>Pair in Focus: EURJPY</h2><p>EURJPY Pair in Focus</p><p>The SSI for EURJPY reads -3.1285, placing current retail positioning at the 12.9th historical percentile since March 2014. This means the crowd is more heavily net short than roughly 87% of all historical readings. Extreme net short skew at this level has historically been a rare condition for this pair.</p><p>The crowd has held the short side for 881 consecutive hours. The z-score sits at -1.114, which falls short of the 1.5 threshold that defines an extreme reading. Hours at that extreme level currently stand at zero, against a historical average extreme run of just 2.8 hours. The 7-day shift of -0.3673 shows the skew has continued deepening modestly over the past week.</p><p>Three central bank decisions land this week, all directly relevant to EURJPY. The FOMC decision on March 18 sets broader risk tone. The ECB and BOJ decisions both fall on March 19. Both the euro and the yen side of this pair face simultaneous policy catalysts, making this an unusually dense event window for positioning volatility.</p><h2>Full Positioning Table -- All 28
